The humane society will host a meet-and-greet with DeVito, a friendly dog who is blind, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the humane society, 1925 Shelter Court. A person rescued DeVito after seeing him eating roadkill on the side of a busy road in Milwaukee, and brought him to Oshkosh to urge the medical help he needed before being made available for adoption, consistent with the humane society. Donations from the community funded a procedure for an eye fixed specialist to get rid of both of DeVito's eyes to form him easier, as he had a condition referred to as progressive retinal atrophy, consistent with the humane society. He also had several decayed teeth removed, and so the 6-year-old dog is recovering during a family with other dogs. Despite having no eyes, like most dogs, DeVito is usually sniffing around for hands to pet him. For more information, call the humane society at 920-424-2128.
