Police raided two homes in Madrid, Spain, after receiving information that an illegal breeding operation was happening .
270 dogs, mostly Chihuahuas and Pomeranians, were found in deplorable conditions within the basements of the homes that were divided into a breeding area and sales area. The dogs were crammed in small wire cages and lots of had muffled barks.
A spokesperson for the police said, “Some dogs hada really attenuated bark. After performing the acceptable tests, it had been found that that they had undergone a cordectomy-section of the vocal cords. The procedure was administered possibly in order that they didn't bark and not alert neighbours to the existence of an illegal hatchery.”
