Nobody wanted to adopt this senior pooch who was deaf and half-blind - but then a young boy showed up at the shelter.
Senior shelter pups often have a tough time getting adopted.

Most people are more curious about young dogs and puppies and as a result, many amazingly affectionate and loving seniors get overlooked.
One such pup is Shey, a 14-year-old, deaf, half-blind and mostly toothless poodle .
Shey ended up at Animal Rescue League of Iowa after his family decided to not bring him with him once they moved, and for several months, the poor pup waited and waited for a replacement family to adopt him.

When Shey was dropped off at the shelter, the small poodle was in bad shape.
In addition to being deaf and half-blind, Shey was affected by a dental disease, which had gone untreated for much too long.
All but one among his teeth were rotten and had to be removed.
Old, incapacitated and now toothless, Shay’s chances of getting adopted seemed slim.

For four months, the small senior watched as pup after pup found their perfect home, while he was overlooked time and time again.
He had such a lot as to give. He just needed someone to offer him opportunityopportunity. And then, one day, a young boy entered the shelter.
Tristan visited the shelter alongside his mother, and the pair was on the lookout for a little dog to adopt and love.
The shelter staff instantaneously realized that Shey would be perfect for them, and eagerly introduced Tristan to Shey.

As soon as Shey and Tristan locked eyes, it had been clear that they were meant to be a family.
“Shey was very comfortable with Tristan from the start ,” a representative of the shelter told The Dodo.
Shey instantaneously trusted Tristan, and Tristan lit up with joy as he petted the sweet little poodle.
When Tristan was informed about Shey’s especial needs, the young boy wasn’t discouraged.
He very maturely listened to everything he needed to understand and made it clear that he could do anything to form Shey happy and cozy. Tristan made bound to ask as many questions as possible so as to be ready to look after Shey in the best way, and he made a careful note of future vet appointments he’d need to bring Shey.
While some people would see Shey as damaged goods or “too much work,” Tristan simply saw him for who he is: an exquisite, loving little pup in need of affection. Animal Rescue, League of Iowa

Now, Shey features a family who loves him for the sweet pup he's, and he’ll never need to undergo being abandoned ever again.
Tristan is showering the pup amorously and affection and is ensuring that each one of Shey’s needs is met.
Shey is lucky to possess found such an exquisite family, and now the small pup can awaken feeling happy and safe a day of his life.
This young boy’s maturity and compassion is an idea to us all.
