Witnesses saw the lethargic puppy inside a car, yelping and spitting up blood. They immediately contacted the local department of Slidell, and another passerby quickly got into the car and rescued him. When police arrived, they rushed BoeBoe to an area animal hospital, where they determined his internal blood heat was over 109 degrees.
Robertson told the police that she thought her dog would have enough air since she left the windows cracked open, despite the car being off.
She was arrested for aggravated cruelty to animals and booked into the Slidell City Jail before being transferred to the St. Tammany Parish Jail. She now faces a $25,000 fine and/or up to 10 years in prison.
