An emaciated Boxer was dumped during a trash bag outside of a shelter and when rescuers first saw her, they weren’t sure she was still alive. But that’s not all, the dog they’ve named Hope wasn’t alone. She had a companion as well as her – a male boxer tied to a pole next to her.

Both dogs were in terrible shape and made the shelter staff at Unleashed Pet Rescue and Adoption in Mission, Kansas, emotional just watching them. Hope was lying in the garbage bag, barely ready to move and Triumph, the second Boxer, was having trouble standing.

“These two boxers were dumped on our property at some point over night or early this morning,” Unleashed Pet Rescue wrote on the morning they found the 2 dogs. “Hope was left during a trash bag and Triumph was tied to a pole. Hope is haggard and then weak she cannot move, she is on antibiotics and pain meds. Triumph cannot move his back legs.” The staff immediately rushed the dogs to the veterinarians for testing and care.

Hopefully the situation must be bad. Not only did she have pyometra (infected uterus) she also had a really bad infection in her elbow, and an ultrasound showed masses on both adrenal glands also together in her brain. The masses are likely cancer, but rescuers are awaiting test results to find out how far her cancer has spread.

“We hope the cancer has not progressed so she will have her last weeks, months, year during a home and spoiled rotten, ” says CEO and founder Danielle Reno. After several days of medical aid, the rescue did share some positive news about the pair of dogs. Hope not only has gained 7 pounds, she was finally ready to rise up and walk! She remains on antibiotics for her infected elbow and pyometra, but she is in far better spirits.

“All altogether , she’s showing the planet that she’s a fighter!” says Reno, adding, “She’s bright eyed and improving every second of each day!” Triumph is also making progress. Rescuers shared a video of him walking.

“He is on medicine and can be working to create up the muscles in his back and legs, as you'll see it’s tough for him to urge around,” they wrote. “The plan is physiotherapy with water therapy. he's such a sweet dog and is functioning on recovery in his family .”

Reno assures everyone, “We will keep everyone updated and can not hand over on these sweet babies, they deserve an opportunity to be loved and live happy lives.”

It's so awful how anyone could do this to these poor animals. I pray they all heal and find good homes.

I can not understand why they would not release them to a shelter before they got in such bad shape

Its not awful it criminal and those responsible should be charged with their crimes being they were used for breeding and you out there who BUY from breeders you are also responsible for these animals being treated like garbage because you BUY from those criminals... face the facts breeders are criminals who use animals as a source of funds to live. Stop buying , close all puppy mills and arrest back yard breeders and charge them with criminals acts stop warning them and punish them!
