Eastchester firefighters rescue dog from frozen pond at Siwanoy Country Club

 A husky named Jax fell into the freezing water of a pond. Watch as Eastchester firefighters brave the water to rescue him!

EASTCHESTER – After walking on thin ice – and falling into a cold pond at Siwanoy club – an outsized husky named Jax was rescued by Eastchester firefighters on Monday.



While twiddling with a number of his canine friends on the golf links, Jax fell through the ice and got stuck toward the middle of the frozen pond, consistent with Eastchester Professional Firefighters Local 916. The union said firefighters received the club around 11 a.m. in cold water suits and, using specialized drinking water equipment, were ready to escort Jax safely to shore.

In a video shared by the union, firefighter Domenick DiRienzo swam toward the middle of the frozen pond and took Jax under an arm to assist him swim back to land. On his return to land, Jax received a warm welcome with blankets and praise from his owners. he's expected to form a full recovery, the department said.




Eastchester firefighters rescued a dog that had fallen through thin ice at Siwanoy club on Dec. 21, 2020. Capt. Phil Pinto and firefighters, William Cirrincione, Paul Keindl, Vincent Debitetto and Anthony Piliero helped DiRienzo bring Jax to safety, the union said.
