Nobody Wanted Frightened Pup With Abusive Past, So He Stopped Wagging His Tail

The pup was so traumatized that he never stepped out of his kennel when workers were around. He was sure someone would hit him or hurt him again.

For Percy, the Collie mix who spent the most year of his life in an abusive situation, humans had become synonymous with monsters. He knew humans had turned their backs on him, which he was the sole one who could protect himself.

When Percy was rescued and delivered to the Oakwood Dog Rescue, he was a shivering mess. He would shake uncontrollably at the sight of the rescuers and wouldn’t even check out them. He refused to eat or drink anything and resigned himself to a corner in an effort to cover himself. For 2 weeks, Percy was so traumatized that he never stepped out of his kennel when workers were around. He was sure someone would hit him or hurt him eventually, and his over-defensive visual speech only made it harder for the workers to appeal to his heart.

Gradually, the workers realized that Percy was gradually adjusting to the more relaxed group of shelter dogs. Even so, he was completely shut far away from humans. Seeing his non-existent adoption prospects, the shelter pleaded with the general public in hopes of finding a patient forever home for him. A dog training group called Quality Canines also offered free training to the family that gave him opportunity . After 7 weeks of intense struggle, Percy’s miracle came in the sort of lady named Maggie. When Maggie took Percy home to determine if he was suitable, she was shocked to find that he was looking for comfort with her other dog! Somehow, the quiet, stress-free comfort of a home and therefore, the protective shield of his new doggie sister helped Percy deal with his human anxiety! Maggie ended up adopting Percy with none hesitations!

Over subsequent few days, Percy wholeheartedly embraced Maggie’s love and something magical happened – he wagged his tail for the primary time! For a soul so broken and tattered, this was indeed a grand victory. We thank all those good people that combined their efforts to assist Percy get a good chance to heal his traumas! We wish him an excellent life ahead!
