Dog Starved & Beaten Fights For Her Life, Keeps Kissing Her Veterinarians

Veterinarians are amazed the emaciated pup with a history of horrors wishes only to give love to her saviors.

A family in Johnson County, Kansas found a dog so weak and emaciated that the small furbaby couldn't stand on her own. She was so sick that her saviors were uncertain if the dog would survive the extent of abuse she had endured. In an effort to offer the dog a fighting chance, the family took her a veterinary hospital in Mission Care. There, the staff took the dog and immediately placed her within the medical care unit.

Amazingly, despite the lifetime of horrors and abuse she faced, the small dog together with her ribs protruding was happy and loving. Veterinarians were amazed the small abused pup simply wanted to like and kiss everyone. Pawsitive Tails Dog Rescue teamed up with the veterinary hospital therefore the Canis Minor could receive care and not allow the abusers to win.

According to a recent update on Facebook, the valuable dog has been named Brighe. Her bloodwork is poor but it might be worse, and she or he hasn’t been eager to eat lately. However, they decide to keep her hospitalized, give her a feeding tube, and still fight to stay Brighe alive. The name Brighe translates to “strength and power” in Irish, which is what this determined canine fighter has deep in her soul.

“Refeeding dogs who are during this critical condition must be done painstakingly slowly and is extremely dangerous,” Pawsitive Rescue shared on Facebook. “Refeeding dogs who are during this critical condition must be done painstakingly slowly and is extremely dangerous.”

  1. Thankfully, she was found and rescued from her abuse.
There is absolutely NO excuse for her condition! She would have been better off being let free to survive on her own than to confine her and starve her ... almost to death. Anyone who could or would allow a dog (or ANY animal) suffer to this degree should be convicted of gross negligence, abuse, and cruelty, and be sentenced to the absolute FULL extent of the law. It would most likely also be warranted they be put in a lock-down facility for Mental Health treatment because no person in their right mind would do this to an animal.

And, ANY judge who doesn't hand down the maximum penalty should be fined and jailed for the contribution to condoning this behavior.

A HUGE Thank you! to everyone who has contributed to her cause and to all the medical staff who have given, and continue to give, her such tremendous care. This little girl has a strong desire to live and give love. With her attitude and heart, I am confident she will have a full and speedy recovery.

Virtual hugs and lots of prayers, Brighe! You ARE loved!

    1. I so agree with you, Unknown. All animal or child abuse should be sentenced to the fullest extent of the law (the laws should be made stronger). God bless this dog and the good samaritans who helped rescue her.

  5. Why don't they give an update on this dog? I can't believe how bright & beautiful her eyes are after all she has been through. You can see the love in those eyes. There must be a special place in Hell for those that abused her like that. Jail isn't punishment enough. Brighe, I really pray you are gaining weight, doing much better & have a forever home with someone that truly loves you!

  6. I always worry about posts that are in the US, but are not posted in correct English. Raises a red flag. Just saying.
