After 756 Days In The Shelter, Nine-Year-Old Beagle Mix Finds Forever Home

Being a senior dog with vision and skin problems, Rose was always overlooked and passed over. But her day had finally arrived..

It's not secret that when looking for a new pet, individuals are more likely to adopt pups.

However, this forces older dogs and canines with health difficulties to remain in their kennels. And, all too often, the waits are far too protracted – sometimes even resulting in death sentences.

Rose, a 9-year-old Beagle/pit bull mix, had to wait 756 days at the Humane Society of Scott County, with no end in sight.

People would ignore the dog because she had some visual and skin issues. But she is now in a loving permanent home where she may finally live her life as a pet!

Adoption applications for young, healthy dogs flood the shelters. Few people show up willing to take in an elderly dog who might need a little additional love and care.

Shelters around the country are hopeful that Rose's tale will raise awareness about the pets who are often forgotten and simply need love like everyone else.
