When the veterinary ranch initially assessed that he was on the verge of euthanasia, Elton was in such a terrible state that many bones were broken throughout the back end. Dr. Matt wrote, "We didn't know if surgery was even possible." But Elton was a fighter, so they decided to try surgery. After Hurricane Harvey, Elton was seen dragging his damaged corpse through the streets of Houston.
