After 8 Years In Chains A Blind Pup Receives His Very First Bed

This sweet pup has had a rough life and is still in need of a forever home! Do you know someone who could take him in?

Stevie, an 8-year-old dog, was found locked up with another canine companion. Unfortunately, the canines were probably chained for most, if not the entirety, of their lives. The pup was taken in by the Lancaster SPCA and cared for until he was transferred to Diamonds in the Ruff in New York. Diamonds in the Ruff Animal Rescue is a 100% volunteer and foster-based rescue organization that primarily serves Niagara and Erie counties. The group was created in 2011 with the sole purpose of assisting in the euthanasia of as many animals as possible.

Due to the continuous work of organizations like Diamonds in the Ruff, 3.2 million animals are adopted from shelters across the United States each year. Stevie was not only plagued by fleas, bald patches, and heartworms, but he was also completely blind. Further investigation revealed that the little dog was suffering from digestive issues. Medical treatment is not only needed, but also urgent.

Stevie's intestines were clogged by a corn cob, necessitating emergency surgery. Because of these problems, Stevie's foster family had to be patient and supportive while he adjusted to his new existence.

As the dog continued to recuperate and adjust to his new circumstances, his true personality began to emerge! Stevie's foster family enjoyed watching some of his "firsts" that he missed out on as the dog began to come out of his shell.

Stevie finally got his first bed, which was full of plush and foamy bliss! The dog likes his new bed very much. He is frequently seen leaping up and down and rubbing his paws on it. Every time he goes to bed, he jumps up and down with delight! Stevie is overjoyed to have such a comfortable place to sleep.

Stevie's foster mother is Erin Boyd. In a recent interview with the dodo, she expressed her admiration for Stevie's swift shift. We know how difficult it is for a dog to suddenly find comfort after years of abuse, but Stevie seems to be on the path to happiness.

Although Stevie was blind, his keen sense of smell and hearing made up for his lack of vision. Stevie is now available for adoption while he searches for his forever home. Stevie is looking for a home where he will be lavished with love from his human family. He would prefer to be the only pet in the house, but if required, he would accept a low-energy friend.

Stevie needs a family that can provide him with regular snuggling and attention, because he missed a lot of love when he was a child. Stevie has heartworms, so having someone to drive him to his visits is essential.
