Two cute canines, Spencer and Rocky, are best friends. They have been inseparable for a long and happy decade. “They had never spent a night apart,” the dog's owner, Beth Fisher, told The Dodo. “Rocky and Spencer slept in the same bed, ate from the same dish, and walked everywhere together.”
Unfortunately, the veterinarian recently discovered a huge malignant tumor in Loki's body, and the good time they spent together ended in this way. It was too late for treatment, leaving him with only one choice: to end his pain. “Rocky had to be euthanized that day,” Fisher explained. “It was difficult to accept Rocky's untimely loss, but we can't imagine how difficult it must have been for Spencer to lose his little brother.”
Spencer was devastated when Rocky crossed the rainbow bridge. “Since Rocky died, Spencer has been waking up in the middle of the night looking for his brother,” Fisher explained. “And then he begins to cry because he can't find him.” Spencer clearly needed something to help him get through this difficult period. Consequently, Fisher's father had a pillow made for Spencer with Rocky's happy face printed on it. The cushion appears to have helped Spencer fill the emptiness Rocky's death had left in his heart.
Fisher explained, "Spencer has been hugging into the pillow since it arrived, bringing it from the sofa to his own bed." “He seems a lot more at ease now that he has something to cuddle into.” Of course, nothing can bring Rocky back to live with the family, but Spender may be reassured knowing that his closest buddy is still with him in spirit and that he will never have to face the future alone. And we hope Spencer can find solace in his new pillow as well as solace in his family.
