‘Sweetest darn dog on earth’ used as bait dog and needs our help

Meet Lucas, a senior terrier mix who may be the "sweetest darn dog on the planet," yet someone without a soul thought making Lucas a bait dog to teach other dogs to fight in the ring for a profit was a fantastical idea.

The staff at the Sacramento Animal Care Service described this affectionate old man: “Lucas is suspected of being exploited as a bait dog or of being attacked by other dogs when out on the streets. We don't know what happened to this youngster, but he requires assistance. Possibly deaf/blind. I'm having trouble walking.” On June 21, Lucas was discovered by a Good Samaritan and taken to the shelter. He adores being petted and loved.
