Here's a poignant pic of Chief the dog bidding his owner, William D. 'Bill' Schiller, farewell. Schiller and his partner Anne Marie Sibthorp adopted Chief, a rescue dog, in 2014. They had been inseparable friends since the beginning.
Regrettably, Schiller crossed the rainbow and was buried in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Guangzhou on April 13th. Friends and relatives gathered to say their final goodbyes to Bill Schiller before he was laid to rest. They were not, however, the only ones in grief.
Sibbthrop knew she had to do something for his boyfriend, so she took the chief into the chapel and met Schiller for the last time. No one could have predicted how gently the dog would say his final goodbye to his owner when Sibthorp escorted him to Schiller's casket.
“He got to say his last goodbye to his daddy,” Sibthorp explained. “And that was significant.” She will never forget the heartbreaking moment in our church when Chief said his final farewell to his dearest friend.
“Seeing a dog standing on his tiptoes peering into a casket touched the hearts of this community,” said Sam James, the director of the James Funeral Home in Huntersville, North Carolina. “Anne Marie (Sibthorp) sent it to us,” James explained. “We asked her if it was okay if we shared it with the community because it was such a touching photo.” Please tell everyone about this tale!
