Couple Save All of the Senior Dogs from Shelters That Nobody Else Wants

“I think we’re very lucky, like it’s our passion, but it’s also such a pleasant thing to be doing. We’re just really blessed to be able to do this.”

When Chris and Mariesa discovered Mr. Mo Project, they had no idea and things would start like they did. Their initial motivation was to supply elderly dogs in their local shelter with care packages, but it grew to the purpose where they started taking dogs from shelters themselves.

Their rescue network extends from California to New York and even to Canada. Their mission may be a simple one but it’s by no means easy, as they need to make sure that no dog on their journey is left behind. After six years of their innovative project, the couple have saved quite 500 dogs, an interesting achievement once you consider the fact that a lot of of those dogs would have otherwise been euthanized if it wasn’t for his or her efforts.

The project was started to commemorate Moses, a beautiful dog, who was very popular in the local animal shelter. After spending only four weeks with Moses before he gave up the ghost, the couple began to believe the lives of other elderly dogs, whom undoubtedly when through similar hardship to Moses. The Mr Mo project has developed a saying , whereby they seek to offer senior dogs “the best for the remainder ,” which essentially means they provide dogs the simplest time that they need for his or her remainder of the time they need on earth. It’s a gorgeous mission.

While the couple often raise money from well-wishers for expensive surgeries, sometimes they don’t meet their targets and need to buy the treatment themselves. They joke that if something isn’t nailed down in their house it'd be sold! But this is just to give you an in-depth understanding of the personalities of these two amazing people, who do their best to provide elderly dogs with the simplest opportunity to measure their peace and pain-free rest of their lives.

I’ll leave you with Marisa's words, who sums up their mission beautifully: “I think we’re very lucky, like it’s our passion, but it’s also such a pleasing thing to be doing. We’re just really blessed to be ready to do that .”
