Dog Swims Through Floodwaters To Rescue Autistic Boy Clinging To Pole

On August 21, 2021, Waverley, Tennessee experienced a historic flood.2021. TheThe world suddenly suffered 17 inches of rain, killing at least 20 people and destroying more than 250 houses and countless businesses.

In a tragedy, there was a glimmer of hope in a 6-year-old Pyrenees-Labrador hybrid named Cooper. The dog is being hailed as a hero after he helped a boy survive the floodwaters. The young man, who has autism, explained on rescue how Cooper helped him endure the flood. Local resident Zaneta Warren shared the boy’s story within the Concerned Citizens of Humphreys County Facebook group:

“He said that when he was hanging on to a pole, the dog decreased the creek and managed to swim over to him. He said this dog saved my life, he swam to me and made me hold on.” The boy and Cooper were later taken on the rescue boat.boats. Apart from Cooper getting a little scrape on his back, both he and therefore the boy he helped were fine.

Veterinarian Dr. Jessica Peek owns the Waverly Animal Clinic, where Cooper ended up later that day. She told the Daily Mail that Cooper must have been treated like a hero under their care. “We’ve been calling him Big Hero Dog all week long. He’s a living sweetie and we’ve been giving him many treats, telling him he’s a hero.”

The Waverly Animal Clinic shared on Facebook that after the flood, each of their kennels was full. Peek said Cooper’s story is simply one among many involving pets suffering from the weekend flooding. Several animals were separated from their families during the storm.

“You feel a touch helpless and don’t know what to try to when people are trapped and searching for his or her pets. We’ve tried to offer pets a secure place to be so owners could affect other things they need to affect .”

When Caitlyn Rochelle saw a post about Cooper on Facebook, she learned that her dog Cooper was at the Waverly Animal Center. She later told the Daily Mail how proud she was of her cute puppy: “It made me cry. It had been no surprise that he saw somebody else in distress and went after him.”

Cooper was staying with Rochelle’s father when he got caught in a frenzy by the water. Rochelle’s house had flooded when a tree crashed through her roof that Saturday morning. Both Rochelle and her father are overjoyed to possess Cooper back. Even as he demonstrated as well as his rescue of the stranded boy, he’s an emotionally supportive dog.

“He’s always been an honest dog, an excellent emotional support animal. When my dad and that I get depression, Cooper senses it and sits and lays his head on us.” Leave it to a dog to be completely selfless in his own time of need.

Humans cant imagine how many like this dog are murdered everyday! We as a civilized society have to stop killing these animals instead find out what they are good at even if its being a pet and give them the life they are born to do!
