Hearts broke when shelter staff watched Barley cry after his owner surrendered him and never looked back

Meet Barley. This gorgeous German shepherd was surrendered to the Riverside Animal Shelter on August 25, 2021 by his owner who never looked back to even say goodbye. Instead his owner walked away, and Barley watched. When ushered to his shelter cage, he cried aloud breaking hearts needless to say .

An animal advocate posted her feelings on social media:

“Oh how heartbreaking upsetting confusing and traumatizing for a pet to be cruelly surrendered leaving the poor betrayed pet stunned, overwhelmed and heartbroken. The owner didn’t even turn back to ascertain Barley on longer . it's beyond cruel heartless, unacceptable and inexcusable to surrender ones loyal loving and trusting human companion.. Please help this beautiful natured sweet loving and precious darling boy today.”
