Man experiencing homelessness chooses dog over housing, much-needed surgery: ‘I will not leave him’

For Donald Dickerson, his canine is his stylish friend and for him, he's ready to give up nearly everything."Every day he looks at me — I know I'm loved. I named him Duude because that’s my dude. We've a close, close connection," said Dickerson describing his close bond with Duude. According to Fox8, the brace's connection has strengthened over the once many months as they came homeless.

"He’s been hanging in there with me," noted Dickerson, who spends his days and nights at a campground in a Greensboro, North Carolina, forestland alongside his canine. The kick than's that the man had an option to get a better roof over his head but that would mean giving up Duude. Then, he chose to pass it up just so he could be with his canine." "I could have formerly had a place to live, but they wanted me to foster my canine. I ’m not doing that, * expressed Dickerson, who sorely has some health straits in addition to being homeless. His blown knee has been giving him a lot of trouble for some time now."It’s painful. I've to walk on this hill every day,"he expressed.

What Dickerson needs now is a partial knee relief surgery, commodity that had been arranged up months ago, still, croakers informed him that they couldn't on him just yet."When the croakers, plant out I was homeless they said we've to defer it until you find a place to live because someone has to come out and take care of you,"he explained. Unfortunately, he has not been suitable to find a place that will take in both him and his little Duude. But that hasn't held him back from trying harder."I cannot give him up,"he said, participating his strong resoluteness. Still, if the surgery means saying farewell to his canine, Dickerson is ready to go without the procedure. However, I will, cause I'll not leave him,"If I've to be homeless and go without my surgery and continue to go through the pain.

Lane Miller, who was extremely taken by Miller's immolation, said, *It takes that especial existent because they watch more about anyone differently than themselves."Miller developed a fellowship with Dickerson after seeing him along Wendover Avenue as she drove to work every day.

"I've been seeing this gentleman nearly for the last time. I could see his smile through the mask — OK, and that’s presumably what did it for me," added Miller who reached out to numerous associations and agencies hoping to help him out."I was worried to know he did n’t have a place to go but he was approved for surgery, so I started reaching out and I hit a lot of slipup walls,"she noted. The Volunteer Center of the Triad is presently working with other agencies to help Dickerson and Duude find a place they can call home. As the man waits for the day to arrive, he said,"If it was n’t for (Duude), I would have given up.However, and not get my surgery, I'll do that because I ’m not giving him up, If I've to continue to be homeless."
