Abandoned puppy rescued on active Kansas highway

On Saturday, a dog that had been abandoned was found on the highway close to Wamego and now has a brand-new home.

Workers with Coleman Electric were on their way to Manhattan when they spotted a dog in a vehicle carrier. With the help of the drivers, Matt McMillan and Steve McLean managed to flag down the double-decker vehicle carrier. They managed to get the car to stop in time to save the dog.

Mcmillan took care of the dog at their job site after the rescue. The 4-month-old puppy is a retriever-lab mix named Karmel.

She's the cutest dog, so after we discovered her, she simply sits there at your feet," Mcmillan remarked. She spent the previous two days primarily sleeping, so I believe she needed to catch up and regain some strength.

Increased cash rewards are being offered by Crime Stoppers in exchange for information on a corpse discovered in west Wichita. Mcmillan, who having recently lost a dog of his own, felt he could not survive without her.

Mcmillan brought the dog to be chipped on Tuesday. When they got in touch with the original owners, they said they didn't want her back. The dog was first taken home from a shelter in Manhattan.
